According to a report by The Block, Ethereum developers have released client software for the Holesky and Sepolia testnets as part of the Pectra upgrade, in preparation for the anticipated mainnet upgrade scheduled for April.
Client versions targeting different consensus and execution layers have been released today. Before implementing the mainnet upgrade, developers will first deploy the updates on the testnets to ensure the software operates correctly and does not pose risks to real assets.
The Pectra upgrade will be tested on the Holesky testnet on February 24, followed by testing on the Sepolia testnet on March 5. These tests aim to simulate the network environment, analyze performance, ensure compatibility, and address potential issues before the official rollout to the mainnet.
Ethereum developers have scheduled an All Core Developers meeting on March 6 to finalize the mainnet upgrade date, which is currently expected to be April 8, although the timing may change based on the results from the testnets.
