
In his New Year address, Yosuke Matsuda, the President and Representative Director of Square Enix, the renowned game development company behind “Final Fantasy,” expressed that the company is actively working on adjusting its organizational structure and optimizing resource allocation to support a renewed focus on artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and Web3, as well as cloud technology by 2024.
Matsuda stated that Square Enix intends to “actively apply AI and other cutting-edge technologies to content development and distribution.” He also hinted at the company’s embrace of generative AI technology, specifically mentioning ChatGPT, and believes that AI has surpassed the realm of academic discussions.
According to a report by Cointelegraph, in December 2023, Square Enix launched NFT hero characters for its Web3 game “Symbiogenesis.” This new IP offers an interactive art experience that involves collectibles and narratives.
