SuiPlay0X1: The Pocket Game Console with Web3 Capabilities, Supporting Multiple Game Stores

Developer Mysten Labs announced on Wednesday that it is partnering with open-source operating system company Playtron to launch the open handheld gaming console SuiPlay0X1. The console will support multiple game stores, from Sui Web3 games to Epic Games’ Epic Game Store.

Adeniyi Abiodun, the Product Lead at Mysten Labs, stated in an interview with GamesBeat that SuiPlay0X1 will be the first handheld gaming console with native Web3 functionality and will be available in global stores in 2025.

SuiPlay0X1 is powered by PlaytronOS, a device-agnostic game operating system developed by Playtron. This allows players to play both Web3 and Web2 games on PC and mobile devices, and the native integration of the Sui blockchain is achieved through Sui’s Web3 identity verification solution zkLogin and Sui Kiosk SDK. This marks the first direct connection between asset ownership and device account systems in the gaming industry.

The price of SuiPlay0X1 has not been confirmed yet but is expected to be around $500. It is also reported that this gaming console could potentially be used for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency mining.
