7.2 Earthquake Strikes! Bitget Announces Immediate Assistance Program for Affected Users

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake occurred at 8:00 am on April 3, 2024. Leading global cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 company Bitget announced in the first instance that it would provide assistance to affected users in Taiwan.

Walden Chang, the Regional Director of Bitget Taiwan, issued a statement on behalf of the operating team, stating that a budget of $500,000 had been allocated for the user assistance program in response to the earthquake.

Walden stated that all Bitget Taiwan users who have suffered financial losses or personal injuries during this earthquake can apply for disaster relief funds of up to $100 equivalent on the Bitget official website by filling out a form.

After a natural disaster, when people need additional funds to help meet medical supplies, food, and other basic needs, they often cannot rely on traditional banking services. Cryptocurrency transfers are increasingly being used to provide economic assistance to disaster victims because they offer fast, low-cost, borderless, and transparent transactions.

The Bitget team expressed their hope that the impact of this earthquake can be minimized and that all Taiwanese people can safely overcome this difficult situation.
