Aptos Foundation announced its partnership with African Web3 application company Jambo to launch the Android smartphone JamboPhone. The JamboPhone is priced at only $99 and is now available in over 40 countries. According to the press release, the phone is not just a hardware device, but also a bridge to the Aptos ecosystem, seamlessly integrating with pre-installed applications such as the Aptos-compatible wallet Petra and the Jambo App.
The Aptos Foundation stated that the collaboration with Jambo is based on a shared vision of empowering individuals in developing economies, including Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, through the potential of Web3 technology.
In recent years, more and more Web3 companies have begun exploring the possibilities of entering the smartphone market, and the success of the Solana phone may be a major factor in driving this phenomenon. According to previous reports, the second-generation smartphone “Chapter 2” launched by Solana’s mobile development department, Solana Mobile, received over 100,000 pre-orders in less than 30 days, exceeding the original production plan by five times. According to official statements, the second-generation product is expected to be shipped in the first half of 2025.
