The second ETHTaipei concluded successfully from March 21st to March 24th, attracting enthusiastic participation from over a thousand attendees. Apart from Ethereum founder Vitalik’s creative temple-themed appearance that amazed the audience and sparked discussions online, the 40-hour-long hackathon also saw more than 300 developers from around the world come together to showcase their technical skills and innovative ideas. After days of hard work and in-depth discussions, the moment of unveiling the results finally arrived, and multiple projects received high recognition from the judging panel for their innovativeness.
This hackathon focused on bringing more innovative applications to Ethereum through Layer2, Privacy, and On-chain AI. Developers used their past development experience and cutting-edge technologies to bring new products and vitality to the entire ecosystem within three days. A total of 70 teams participated, resulting in 56 projects and competing for over 2.3 million dollars in prizes. Finally, after careful evaluation by the judges, several notable projects were selected.
Among the nine Community Finalists, two teams excited and surprised the audience by implementing products using the latest technology in the Dencun upgrade. These include using Blob Data to make Layer2 applications more cost-effective in terms of transaction fees and utilizing Transient Storage to create better optimization for ERC20 and ERC721. These projects showcased the Ethereum community developers’ understanding of the latest EIPs and their unique ability to apply them flexibly in technology.
Another notable aspect was that several teams from Taiwan developed end-to-end products within just three days. Examples include ZicretPair, an anonymous dating platform on the blockchain, Hiraijin, a QR code payment system that accepts on-chain assets, and Kage, a cross-chain privacy transfer service. These teams participated in Demo Day and received great attention, fostering extensive exchanges between developers from different countries and Taiwan, leading to the creation of more excellent ideas and bringing sparks of creativity to all participants.
In addition to the mentioned projects, many other outstanding works emerged during this hackathon. These innovative projects not only demonstrated the participants’ technical abilities but also showcased their passion and expectations for the Ethereum ecosystem.
This hackathon also received positive evaluations from international companies providing sponsorship and challenges, showing recognition for the Taiwan developer community. The judging team from Consensys stated, “ETHTaipei 2024 Hackathon not only showcased the participants’ creativity and talent but also promoted technological exchanges and the advancement of the community, bringing new momentum to the Ethereum ecosystem.”
