Failure of Dogecoin and Bitcoin "To the Moon" as Peregrine Falcon Unable to Land due to Propulsion System Anomaly

Astrobotic, an aerospace company, announced on Wednesday that its lunar lander, named “Peregrine,” will not have the opportunity to make a soft landing due to a propellant leak. Astrobotic stated that the lander will continue to operate as a spacecraft, and the propellant is estimated to be depleted in approximately 40 hours. The team will continue to work on finding ways to extend the operational life of Peregrine. The company is currently receiving data and exploring spaceflight operations for components and software related to the next lunar lander mission, “Griffin.”

According to previous reports by Zombit, the Peregrine, carrying physical Bitcoins and Dogecoins, was launched into space successfully on Monday with the United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan Centaur rocket. It successfully separated from the rocket. However, after the failure of the lunar mission, the journey for Bitcoins and Dogecoins to reach the moon also came to an end.

Astrobotic released space photos taken by Peregrine in its mission update. The DHL MoonBox payload, covered with multi-layer insulation (MLI), is located in the middle-left position of the photo. Astrobotic stated that it contains “hundreds of thousands of messages from people on Earth.”
