The Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) filed a lawsuit against Craig Wright, who has long claimed to be the creator of Bitcoin, last month in order to prevent him from suing other developers or claiming intellectual property rights over the related technology.
In today’s closing arguments in the case, UK judge James Mellor stated that Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, nor the author of the Bitcoin whitepaper. According to CoinDesk’s report, after discovering “overwhelming” evidence, the judge stated that he plans to write a ruling that declares Craig Wright is not the creator of Bitcoin, not the author of the Bitcoin whitepaper, and not the creator of Bitcoin technology.
Two key figures in the creation of Bitcoin testified in this lawsuit last month, including Adam Back, a pioneer of the Bitcoin Proof of Work (PoW) consensus system, and early Bitcoin contributor Martti Malmi. Both individuals objected to Craig Wright’s testimony in court and stated that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto.
