ZachXBT, an online detective, stated on Wednesday (31st) on the X platform that Ripple appears to have been hacked, resulting in a loss of approximately 213 million XRP (valued at approximately 112 million US dollars). The stolen funds have currently been laundered through exchanges such as MEXC, Gate, Binance, Kraken, OKX, HTX, and HitBTC.
According to TradingView data, following the news of Ripple’s alleged hack, XRP experienced a temporary drop of approximately 3.1%, but the trading price has since recovered to 0.5 US dollars before the deadline.
In response to this incident, Chris Larsen, co-founder and executive chairman of Ripple, posted on social media, stating that the stolen funds came from his personal XRP account (not the official Ripple account). The problem was quickly discovered and the relevant addresses were frozen after the theft was detected yesterday. Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the matter.
