zkSync Protocol Upgrade Version v24 Completes Audit Deployment on Mainnet Scheduled for June 6th

On Wednesday (June 5th), zkSync, the Ethereum Layer 2 network, announced that the protocol upgrade version v24 of zkSync Era has completed auditing and will be deployed on the mainnet on June 6th. The native zkSync cross-chain bridge’s deposit and withdrawal functions will be temporarily suspended for 24 hours, but users can still bridge through third-party cross-chain protocols.
zkSync previously stated in mid-May that the upcoming v24 version is the final planned protocol upgrade before transferring network governance to the community, with the remaining missing parts expected to be in place by the end of June. These messages may imply that zkSync’s highly anticipated native token is about to be released.
Foreign media “The Block” reported last month, citing sources, that zkSync aims to conduct a token airdrop around June 13th.
Matter Labs, the developer of zkSync, recently sparked controversy with the cross-chain protocol Polyhedra Network claiming to seize their token code “ZK”, and the company faced criticism for its trademark registration behavior. However, Matter Labs announced earlier this week that they will abandon all trademark applications for the term “ZK”.
