Soneium, the Ethereum Layer-2 network developed by Sony Group’s blockchain division, announced on Wednesday that it is collaborating with messaging software company LINE to introduce several popular LINE Mini Apps to the Soneium blockchain, opening new opportunities for Web3 adoption.
According to the announcement, the first batch of MINI Apps to be launched on LINE through the Soneium chain in the coming months includes Sleepagotchi, Farm Frens, Puffy Match, and Pocket Mob. The Soneium team stated that the goal of this integration is to guide users toward adopting decentralized applications without compromising app usability, and to bring additional features to these apps, such as in-game rewards and purchases.
Soneium also mentioned that LINE MINI App developers will receive assistance from Soneium, including community building, strategic marketing, and IP collaboration, “creating an ecosystem that allows developers to focus on innovation, while Soneium takes responsibility for supporting growth plans.”
Soneium is supported by blockchain development company Sony Block Solutions Labs, a joint venture established by Sony Network Communications, a subsidiary of Sony, and Startale Labs, developers of the Japanese public blockchain Astar Network. Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, emphasized the importance of this integration with LINE, stating:
Soneium employs Optimistic Rollup technology, enabling users to transact on Ethereum at a lower cost. Its mainnet officially launched in January of this year. According to data from L2BEAT, Soneium currently has a Total Value Locked (TVL) of approximately $110 million, ranking 15th among all Ethereum Layer-2 networks.
