Currently, the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) of South Korea does not allow the issuance or trading of cryptocurrency spot ETFs domestically. Lee Jae-myung stated on Facebook on Tuesday:
Lee Jae-myung expressed that his proposal aims to provide more opportunities for the younger generation in South Korea. His other commitments include launching an interest-bearing savings plan targeting youth, as well as a financial consulting program specifically designed for young people. He wrote:
Lee Jae-myung’s rival, Kim Moon-soo, nominated by the ruling People Power Party, has also pledged to lift the effective ban on cryptocurrency ETFs.
Following the impeachment of conservative former President Yoon Suk-yeol due to martial law actions, South Korea will hold a presidential election on June 3, with Lee Jae-myung currently leading with approximately 50% support.
