According to information shared on social media, a level 200 archer player soloed the dungeon boss “Damien” 20 minutes before the weekly reward reset, successfully obtaining the boss rewards and converting the acquired NESO (Maple Coins) into NXPC for cashing out.

However, according to ETH_APPLE, the founder of the Web3 gaming guild Searchfi, it is nearly impossible for that player to solo Damien under normal gameplay conditions, given their attributes and equipment data.

This suggests that the player likely used cheats to clear the dungeon, which not only undermines the fairness of the game but could also lead to a collapse of the token economy in MapleStory N. ETH_APPLE stated:

“This is not a minor exploit but a serious defect capable of destroying the entire game economic system. In the ecosystem of MapleStory Universe, the rewards dropped by Damien and Lotus are the highest-level resources and income sources in the game. If this reward mechanism is compromised or abused, it will inevitably cause a devastating impact on the overall economic system.”

ETH_APPLE ultimately called for the officials to take immediate action and issue a formal statement.

In contrast, Artale, the nostalgic version of MapleStory launched a few months after MapleStory N, has attracted a large number of players even without the support of a token economy, demonstrating that for regular gamers, the allure of nostalgia and gameplay far outweighs that of a token economy.
