US President-elect Donald Trump announced on Sunday on his social media platform, Truth Social, that he has nominated economist and former advisor Stephen Miran as the chairman of the Economic Advisory Committee. The committee will provide advice on economic policies and strategies to the administration.
Miran previously served as a senior economic policy advisor at the Treasury Department during Trump’s first term. In a recent episode of “The Bitcoin Layer,” a podcast related to Bitcoin, he stated that the United States should focus on supporting innovative policies and said to the host:
Appointing Bo Hines to lead the President’s Digital Asset Advisory Committee
In addition, Trump also announced the appointment of former American football player Bo Hines as the executive director of the new advisory department, the “Crypto Committee.” Hines ran as a Republican candidate for the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2022 but was defeated by Democrat Wiley Nickel.
In early December, Trump appointed David Sacks as the White House’s first “AI and Crypto Czar,” responsible for guiding US policies and regulatory affairs in the fields of AI and cryptocurrency.
On Monday, Trump also announced the appointment of former partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Sriram Krishnan, as a senior AI policy advisor in the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Krishnan responded to his appointment on social media platform X, saying, “I am honored to serve our country and work closely with David Sacks to ensure America’s continued leadership in the field of AI.”
