
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino recently gave an interview to the media outlet Cointelegraph. When discussing the killer application in the cryptocurrency industry for 2024, Ardoino stated that what the industry truly needs are “real-world use cases and applications.”
Ardoino believes that the next killer application in the cryptocurrency space could be a hotel booking system or a competitor to Uber. However, the most important aspect is that the application itself should focus on the fundamental value proposition provided by cryptography, including enhancing privacy and reducing intermediaries through peer-to-peer transactions and privacy protection.
Furthermore, Ardoino emphasized that the adoption of blockchain technology or the issuance of new tokens should not be the market’s main focus. Ardoino stated:
“Decentralization does not necessarily mean that the system has to use blockchain technology, as blockchain systems can be slow and require global shared state.”
