JPMorgan CEO: Satoshi appears, Bitcoin disappears
Franklin Templeton’s digital asset research department, a subsidiary of the asset management company Franklin Templeton, took over the company’s official US account today and took the opportunity to release a series of tweets related to cryptocurrency, including comments on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the Solana ecosystem. The account released fragmented perspectives rather than comprehensive reports. For example, the account commented on the Bitcoin ecosystem:
In addition, when discussing Ethereum, the account pointed out that although the Ethereum ecosystem is currently facing a certain degree of “midlife crisis,” new concepts such as EIP 4844, the new DA layer, community revival, and Restake are driving the development of the Ethereum ecosystem. Furthermore, the research team also recognizes Solana’s potential as a single-layer blockchain and is impressed by various ecosystem activities (such as DePIN, DeFi, Meme, NFT, etc.) emerging in the fourth quarter of 2023. Finally, the team concluded:
While the main purpose of these actions seems to be promoting the new X account of the digital asset research department, “Franklin Templeton Digital Assets,” it can be seen from the content released that the department has a deep understanding of the cryptocurrency field.
In contrast, Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan, was jokingly called “an outsider pretending to be an insider” by many members of the cryptocurrency community in his statement during an interview yesterday.
According to Benzinga’s report, Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan, expressed doubts about the final certainty of the 21 million Bitcoin supply limit during an interview with CNBC:
“I think, when we reach 20 million Bitcoins, it’s a good opportunity…Satashi (verbatim) will appear, and then all Bitcoins will be erased. How do you know for sure that it will stop being issued after reaching 21 million?”
This statement was criticized and mocked by many members of the cryptocurrency community. Will Clemente, co-founder of Reflexivity, stated that Jamie Dimon’s embarrassing statement demonstrates his lack of basic understanding of the Bitcoin system. Furthermore, the mispronounced “Satashi” by Jamie Dimon has become a meme coin and is being speculated by speculators.
