Sony plans to enhance the acquired Amber Japan platform to expand cryptocurrency trading services

According to a press release published on PR Times, Sony Group’s cryptocurrency exchange company Amber Japan has announced a name change to S.BLOX Co. and plans to overhaul its trading platform WhaleFin.

Originally part of Japan’s cryptocurrency exchange DeCurret, the entity was acquired by Amber Group’s Japanese subsidiary, which later saw full acquisition by Sony’s wholly-owned subsidiary Quetta Web Co. in August 2023.

In its press release, S.BLOX stated that it plans to collaborate with other Sony Group businesses to enhance its cryptocurrency trading services. The transformation of the WhaleFin platform will include a redesigned user interface and the launch of a new mobile app to improve usability. WhaleFin is also expected to expand its supported currencies and functionalities following the revamp. The exact launch date of the new platform has not yet been disclosed.
